In 2025, Mazda will offer two compact crossover SUVs: the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-50. While they are direct siblings in the 2025 lineup, they are significantly different and easy to tell apart on the road. Before visiting Maple Shade Mazda for a test drive, what should you know about the 2025 Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-50?
The 2025 Mazda CX-5 offers two engines. The lower trims feature a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder unit that produces 187 horsepower. The higher trims have a turbocharged version of the base engine, which produces 227 horsepower. All-wheel drive and a six-speed auto-shiftable transmission are standard. The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is available with the same two engine options. A hybrid powertrain system is also offered. This system features a non-turbo engine and a continuously variable transmission. Its output is 219 horsepower.
The Mazda CX-5 is slightly smaller than the Mazda CX-50 and has a sportier, sleeker style. Its enviable look is established by well-placed contours and accents across the smooth hood and sides. The front end is equally bold, with a wide grille that flows into streamlined headlights. The Mazda CX-50 is broader and longer than the Mazda CX-5. It also sits lower to the ground and is dressed with lower-body cladding. The shape is slightly boxy, and the fenders are smoothly molded. At the front, the Mazda CX-50 has a wider grille with smaller headlights.
Several of the same features are available across both models. These include wireless Apple CarPlay with Android Auto, a digital instrument panel, remote keyless entry, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a forward collision avoidance system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure mitigation, a blind-spot detection system, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, a wireless device charger, heated front seats, and many additional features.
