The 2025 Mazda CX-50 comes with a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, producing 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with i-Activ AWD®. For those seeking more power, turbo trims offer a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter engine that cranks out up to 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the CR-V features a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 190 horsepower. It also has a hybrid option that combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, generating 204 hp. In terms of base engine power, the CR-V slightly edges out the CX-50. However, the latter's turbocharged engine in higher trims significantly surpasses its rival’s offerings.  

While both vehicles can seat up to five passengers, the Mazda CX-50 offers an upscale cabin featuring high-quality materials. The seats are comfortable, and passengers won’t have anything to complain about in terms of road noise. While the 2025 Honda CR-V is practical, it falls short of the Mazda CX-50.
